Our Future
Construction Update
Another month has gone quickly by and it is time for an update on our building. The roofing on the building has been completed. New high efficiency windows have been installed in the educational wing. Framing on the inside of the educational wing is complete. The plumber has completed the first stage of his work. Electricians are busy rewiring the building with all new wiring. Fans, lights and thermostats in the sanctuary will now all be accessible from the back. This will be a great improvement over the old system. The AC and heating units for the sanctuary are being placed in the attics of the wings and will be more efficient. All of the old siding has been removed from the sanctuary and it will soon be covered with ply-board in preparation for the new siding. It is going to be beautiful and will be a building that will glorify the Lord.
There is a lot of work and planning going on that does not catch the eye. To mention a few; some of the beams and framing had to be replaced because of rot or termite damage. Building materials have to be ordered regularly. The old floors will need some more nails and support before a covering of ply-board can be put down to give it a smooth and continuous foundation for the flooring. Clean up around the work area is a constant and a never ending job. Our thanks and appreciation goes to Colleen for coming down most every morning to help us keep the place clean. She is especially appreciated by the work crew when she shows up with a snack at their break time.
Here are some of the exciting things to look for during the month of August. New siding will begin to be installed on the educational wing the first week in August. There will be a covering of ply-board over the outside of the sanctuary, followed by the installation of doors, the stained glass windows, and the new siding. Plans to install the steeple are being made also. The excavation company is on site preparing to build the handicap ramps, porches, sidewalks, and smoothing out the landscape. So, by the end of August, and all goes as planned, we should be looking at a building that is mostly completed on the outside.
