Our History

Our church was organized in 1900 as the Murphy Baptist Church and was located on FM 544. Our present worship center was built that very same year. After 108 years the historic First Baptist Church building was moved to its present location on North Murphy Road. After a complete renovation and remodeling the first service in the new location was on Christmas Eve 2009.

In 1979 the majority of the church members moved to a new location with more land and changed its name to the Murphy Road Baptist Church. A group of 35 members stayed at the present location and formed the First Baptist Church.

Today the First Baptist Church of Murphy sits on our 10 acre campus. It is located between the McMillen High School and the intersection of North Murphy Road and McMillen Drive. It is the first of a multiphased plan of growth and expansion.
