Ben heard the gospel many times before repenting of his sins and confessing Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of 10.  God called Ben into ministry as a sophomore in college and has provided opportunities to serve in churches ever since. He has been married to his wife Karen since 1994, and they have three adult children. Their family loves serving together to share the gospel and make disciples at home and beyond. Ben has served as a student minister, collegiate minister, marriage and family minister, and pastor.  He began serving as pastor at FBC Murphy on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology at Southern Illinois University in 1991. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in 1995. He also graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012.
Ben loves to preach gospel-centered expository sermons through books of the Bible with relevant application points for families today. He is passionate about sharing the gospel and equipping others to share their story and the gospel with a community and world in desperate need of hope that can only be found in Jesus. Ben is passionate about discipling men to become godly leader men at home and church. God has etched Deuteronomy 6:4-9 on the heart of Ben and his wife, Karen, and their entire family. Ben desires to equip every family at FBC Murphy to develop and implement a strategic plan for discipling their own family to flourish and multiply disciples. He desires to encourage and equip couples to nurture healthy marriages that produce healthy families and fosters a healthy church.  FBC Murphy is a gospel-centered family of many cultures and generations that exists to Magnify Christ, Multiply Disciples, and Mobilize Missionaries.
